This year must be the most boring Raya ever. Okaylah... maybe it's my fault for not preparing for a big Raya celebration on Sunday. But I was so tired.
On Saturday night, I called my Kampung to wish my family Hari Raya. My dad picked up the phone and we talked and wished each other Hari Raya. Then, he passed the phone to my sister. She was so excited to hear from me that she wished me Hari Raya by singing. haha... was the funniest thing. We talked a little bit, mostly about me going to London and Paris. She has a lot of travel tips for me. huehuehue... If only she is coming with me, I probably won't have to pay a single cent. Lucky me... Anw, she told me later that my mom could not go to the phone because she is busy cooking some lodeh and kuah kacang at the kitchen. Hmm... that was ok because I actually get to wish her Hari Raya the night of the Raya itself. Wishing to her again might be redundant.
But then, as usual, my two lazy ass brothers were still sleeping upstairs in their comfy bed. When I called, the Raya prayers in my Kampung was about to start in 40 minutes. I could just imagine how my mom will rush to go to their bedroom and yell to them so that they would get up and get ready for prayers. hahaha... same ol same ol... I promised my sister to call back in 15 minutes after we ended our conversation. Unfortunately, I "accidentally" forget to call them back. haha... Well, I'm pretty sure nobody will be going to be picking the phone at the crucial time anyway.
Later, came Sunday. The big day. "Selamat Hari Raya, Ina", I told myself on the cold morning. I woke up at 7:30am but decided to just not go to Raya prayers at the Bloomington mosque. I felt so tired that morning. I don't really know why. Checked my email and then checked if my roommate was awake or not. Then, I just told myself again not to go anyway coz I am just damn too tired. I confirmed it and so I go back to sleep.
I woke up sometime near 11am when I heard my rommie went to the loo. We both told each other how we "suppose to go to the mosque" but did not go on the day itself. We laugh at it. That morning I ate some lemang which I made the night earlier. Damn! The lodeh I made got flies in it! What in the world happened here? Oh well, eating lemang with curry was not bad.
And then later that late afternoon (about 4pm), I got a phone call from my friend in Bloomington asking, "Kenapa Kak Ina tak datang open house hari ni?". I was blank. Open house? Who? When? Did I have a message earlier? "Hmm... open house? takde siapa ajak pon". Wasn't that sad. Other people were celebrating Raya together and I was left out :--( Oh well... Maybe I was just not in the crowd. Maybe there were signs that I did not see. It was sad... so sad... especially when concerning the celebration of Hari Raya.
Eventually, she asked me to come to her house later that evening. So I went. I actually did not feel as sad as before after going to her house. I ate some good food. yummy... haha... We talked *was only with 2 other people* and I blend in. Maybe I was over-reacting earlier???
Now, it's Monday. What a tiring day.
A good news is I went to a Penn Station sub restaurant and ordered their tuna salad (aka tuna sandwich) with extra cheese. uhhhhhh.... emmmmm..... aaaaa.... it was heavenly.... it was an EXCELLENT sandwich I ever eaten. I recommend you to go there whenever you come across Indiana and 4thSt. I'll go there again some time soon. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Ok. I've got tons of stuff to do tonight. Enjoy your Hari Raya!
